Agora Energiewende is looking for a Team Assistant to support the work of our China Team and to ensure a functioning back-office in Berlin for Agora’s China-based colleagues. 
The world’s energy systems are changing rapidly, driven by cheap renewable energy expansion. While those progress are encouraging, several political, societal, technical, and economic challenges remain to transform world economies in line with climate mitigation objective and development goals. China plays a key role in this transformation process, as a powerhouse in the forefront of the energy transition and a key technology manufacturer. 
Agora Energiewende develops evidence-based strategies that support decision-makers and stakeholders at all levels in navigating the technical, economic, and political complexities of the energy transition around the globe. We are independent of government and business interests, looking to build the bridge between research and political decision-making. We facilitate the exchange of knowledge with stakeholders in the realms of politics, business, and academia while enabling a productive exchange of ideas. 
Our team in Berlin (main office), Brussels, Bangkok and Beijing is multinational, multidisciplinary, and works across the globe with various partners. Our international work is implemented and coordinated with the support of a strong organizational and operational team, that is crucial to the achievement of our missions. To strengthen the backbone between our China programme and the rest of the organization, we are seeking at the earliest possible starting date a 
Team Assistant China Power system transformation - (f/m/d)
Berlin-based / full-time
 
In this role, you support Agora’s China Team and the operation of Agora’s China office and facilitate the administrative liaison with the rest of the organization. Equipped with a variety of skills, ranging from financial management to event planning, you have a strong sense of self-initiative and enjoy working in a dynamic and multicultural environment. While you do not necessarily need experience in the clean energy sector, you have an interest in climate protection and EU policymaking more broadly.
Your responsibilities include
  • Supporting the administration of the various grants of Agora’s China team (budgeting, tracking, reporting) in close coordination with the team director and the finance department;
  • Supporting colleagues with the organization of workshops and meetings, as well as supporting the events team in the planning and execution of public and close-door events in Europe, China and the latter’s neighbouring economies;
  • Ensuring a functioning back-office in Berlin for approximately 10 colleagues working in China, in close liaison with the other assistants of the organization and under the supervision of the line manager;
  • Providing daily administrative support to Agora’s China team (organization of meetings, invoices, scheduling, etc.).
  • Facilitate the administrative liaison between the China team and Agora’s sectoral teams (e.g., power system transformation, industry).

We are looking for
  • Motivation, enthusiasm and a practical hands-on approach to every-day professional challenges;
  • A university degree or vocational training and work experience in a related field;
  • A high degree of self-organization, maintaining calm and focus even amidst hectic schedules; 
  • An enjoyment of teamwork and the ability to liaise effectively with both senior and junior colleagues, and the skill to facilitate smooth collaboration across different teams;
  • Very confident handling of MS Office applications, especially Excel;
  • Full command of the English language in reading and writing, knowledge of Chinese is a plus.
